Are Wedding Bells in Your Future? Dental Veneers Can Give You a Perfect Smile For Your Special Day!
If you are planning a wedding, you can buy the perfect dress and rent the perfect venue. However, if you have worn down, irregularly shaped or broken teeth, you might consider getting dental veneers so you can also have a perfect smile for your wedding day.
Studies have shown that your smile can affect how much confidence you feel. Further, it can also determine what kind of interactions you have with other people. If you hide your smile from others, or feel self-conscious about talking to other people, dental veneers may be the answer for you!
What Are Dental Veneers?
Have you ever wondered how other people seem to have perfect teeth? It’s likely that a person with a perfect smile has dental veneers bonded to the front of their teeth. Dental veneers are wafer-thin shells that are bonded permanently to your teeth, and produce those amazing smiles.
97 percent of dental veneer recipients opted for this cosmetic treatment to enhance their appearance. Veneers do a wonderful job to change the outside appearance of your teeth. However, they don’t correct problems such tooth decay or gum disease.
A dental veneer is simply a shell usually made from tooth-colored porcelain. Veneers cover the front surface of a tooth to improve your tooth’s appearance in several ways, including its shape, size, color, and length. They can clear up physical dental issues such as:
- Teeth that have been worn down.
- Stained or discolored teeth from food or drinks, medications, large resin fillings, or excessive fluoride.
- Teeth that have been broken or chipped.
- Misaligned, irregularly-shaped or uneven teeth.
- Gaps between your teeth.
What is the Process for Getting Veneers Put in Place?
Getting dental veneers can be accomplished in two different appointments, so keep that in mind if you’re wanting to have your perfect smile by a specific date.
- Initially you will meet with Dr. Angela S. Evanson, DDS for a consultation, followed by a dental examination to ensure that dental issues such as tooth decay and gum disease are under control.
- At that appointment you will discuss the vision for your future smile and she can show you how your smile will look once the veneers are bonded to your teeth.
- She will take impressions of your teeth so that she has a life-size measurement of each individual tooth.
- The impressions are sent to the lab accompanied by digital images of your teeth. Then custom tooth shells can be made.
- During this preparatory appointment she will remove a very thin layer of tooth enamel from the front of all the teeth at the forefront of your smile. The layer of enamel must be removed so that the teeth with veneers don’t protrude abnormally.
- Temporary shell coverings are then put in place until your permanent veneers arrive in 2-3 weeks.
During the next appointment, the permanent veneers will be bonded to your teeth with cement bonding. A special dental light hardens and seals your veneers so that you can resume your normal activities, including eating and drinking, as soon as you leave our office. In just two office visits, you can get the perfect smile for your upcoming wedding!
