Give Yourself the Gift of Dental Veneers This Holiday

Give Yourself the Gift of Dental Veneers This Holiday

Are you looking for just the right gift to give yourself this holiday? If you have worn down, chipped, broken or irregularly shaped teeth, or find that you hide your smile or cover your mouth when you talk, consider getting dental veneers for yourself.

    What Are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are wafer-thin shells that are bonded permanently to your teeth to smooth out the irregularities in your smile. Chances are those dazzling smiles you see on celebrities and others with perfect teeth have achieved their looks with dental veneers. This is one gift that won’t be returned after the holidays are over.

Dental veneers fall into the category of cosmetic dentistry, and are used to enhance your overall appearance rather than to correct problems such as gum disease or tooth decay. Veneers work to change the outside appearance of the teeth.

According to a survey by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, 97 percent of dental veneer recipients received their treatment to enhance their appearance. Unlike crowns that cover the entire tooth, dental veneers are simply a shell, usually made out of porcelain, which covers the front surface of a tooth to improve its appearance.

    • Tooth discolorations, stains from tetracycline or other medications.
    • Worn down teeth.
    • Chipped or broken teeth.
    • Misaligned, uneven or irregularly shaped teeth.
    • Teeth with gaps between them.

    The Bonding Process

Getting dental veneers is accomplished in two appointments, so keep that in mind if you’re wanting to have your beautiful smile by New Year’s Eve. At your first appointment,  Dr. Angela S. Evanson, will discuss the vision for your smile and show you how your smile will look once veneers are bonded to your teeth.

She will then prepare your teeth to receive dental veneers, beginning with a dental examination to ensure that all dental issues with your teeth are taken care of.  This preparation visit is also the time when she will remove a very small layer of tooth enamel from the front of all the teeth at the forefront of your smile.

That is followed by making impressions of your teeth. That impression is sent to a lab along with digital images of your teeth so that custom tooth shells can be made. No two patients are alike, so it’s critical to make your dental veneers specifically for you.

Your teeth are given temporary shell coverings until your permanent veneers arrive in 2-3 weeks. At that second appointment, Dr. Evanson will bond the permanent veneers to the teeth. She uses a special dental light to harden and seal your veneers so that you can get back to your normal routine, including eating and drinking, as soon as you leave the office. In just those two visits, you can have the smile of your dreams!

How Do You Benefit From This Cosmetic Procedure?

Veneers improve your smile, and your smile can determine how confident you look, feel and portray yourself to be. In recent studies, those with better smiles are more attractive and in turn, tend to be more successful! That may be why dental veneers have become so popular in recent years.

If you want to change your smile during this holiday season, make an appointment to have a dental veneer consultation. Call (720) 409-0008 or contact us online.
