Modern Dentistry: A Reason to Give Thanks

Improvements made in dental services available in today’s world are remarkable and provide a reason to give thanks! Throughout time, people have attempted to care for their teeth, but nothing in the past compares to modern dentistry. Dentistry has advanced by leaps and bounds in recent years and we can truly say we are thankful for modern dentistry.

The ability to control pain is an essential part of all dental procedures.  In the past, dental procedures were often painful, complex, and lengthy ordeals that required extensive recovery time. Modern dentistry provides several ways for patients to get their dental work done without being in pain. There are medications and techniques that not only reduce or eliminate pain, but also control anxiety during most procedures. From nitrous oxide to oral medications, you can feel stress-free during your dental procedures.

Dr. Angela S. Evanson, DDS uses digital radiography, which allows her to take x-rays using significantly less radiation than conventional film x-rays. The actual amount of radiation exposure using this technique is less than the amount of radiation exposure you would get standing out in the sun for 10 minutes. Using this technology, she is able to take an x-ray of your mouth by using a small sensor which records the image of your teeth and sends it to a computer. The result is a highly detailed image of your mouth that can easily be enhanced to better diagnose dental concerns and determine the very best treatment for each case.

Thanks to modern technology, permanent dental crowns can now be made in the dental office during one visit. The Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) method allows Dr. Evanson to create natural-looking ceramic crowns in her office.  This high-tech system is used to design and make high quality, metal-free dental restorations in one appointment.  CEREC utilizes 3D photography and CAD/CAM technology to help Dr. Evanson design a virtual restoration. When combined with a milling unit, she is able to build an actual crown in one sitting.

Dental implants are a state-of-the-art restoration option that allows patients to replace missing teeth with ones that look, feel and perform like natural teeth, and they are considered to be the best option for replacing missing teeth. In many cases, your dental implant might even be stronger than a natural tooth would be. This technology provides the security of finding a permanent solution to missing teeth.

Dr. Evanson uses dental fillings that are made of tooth-colored composites made up of ground white porcelain and durable resins. These fillings are custom made to match the exact color of your natural teeth, creating an aesthetically pleasing, and durable filling that is resistant to cracks that can form in silver fillings. Composite resins bond with the tooth itself, creating a stronger structure than a filling that is held in place by the shape of the cavity. Composite fillings also provide less “wiggle room” for decay to form under the filling.

Dr. Evanson provides dental care for the whole family, including a comprehensive list of general, restorative and cosmetic dental care. Call (720) 409-0008 to make an appointment or contact us online. Although Dr. Evanson is located in Parker, Colorado, she also provides dental treatment to those in the surrounding communities of Highlands Ranch, Aurora, Castle Rock and Lone Tree.

During this season of Thanksgiving, be grateful for modern dentistry, along with the experience and expertise that has evolved with new found methods over the past few decades.
