October 1st is World Smile Day

The first Friday of October has been dubbed World Smile Day. This is a day devoted to smiling at others, and giving them a reason to smile by spreading random acts of kindness to those you encounter. Remember the familiar yellow smiley face that became popular in the 1960’s? The smiley face was created in an attempt to spread goodwill and cheer throughout the world. In honor of the artist who created that image, Harvey Ball, World Smile Day was created to continue his message after his death.

There Are Many Benefits of Smiling:

    • Improves mood
    • Lowers blood pressure
    • Relieves stress
    • Improves  relationships
    • Boosts the immune system
    • Relieves pain
    • Increases life expectancy

World Smile Day Gives You Time to Focus on Your Smile and Your Oral Health!

A healthy smile is important for so many reasons. There are many benefits to smiling, but if you are embarrassed to smile because your teeth are less than perfect, Dr. Angela S. Evanson, DDS can help you improve the health and appearance of your teeth which gives you more reasons to smile! Some of the basic guidelines for a healthy smile:

Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day with Fluoride Toothpaste

The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that you brush your teeth at least twice a day with a soft bristled brush using fluoride toothpaste for two minutes each time. Frequent brushing helps teeth stay whiter and healthier and prevents plaque from hardening into tartar. The proper way to brush your teeth will help keep your teeth clean in between dental appointments.

    Floss Your Teeth

Flossing is a basic step to a beautiful smile. The ADA recommends that you floss before bedtime to remove plaque between the teeth and under the gum line where a toothbrush can’t reach. Rinse your mouth after flossing, and use a fluoride mouthwash rinse to complete this daily routine.

    Drink Lots of Water

According to the ADA water is the best drink for your body and it’s the best drink for a beautiful smile. Drinking water with fluoride is one of the easiest and most beneficial things you can do to help prevent cavities and have a beautiful smile.

See Your Dentist Every Six Months

Dr. Angela S. Evanson, asserts, “Nothing exudes beauty and confidence like a bright, vibrant smile, and we believe that everyone deserves to experience the life-altering benefits of a radiant, healthy smile.”
