Same Day Dentistry: A Time Saver Results in Durable Ceramic Crowns

    Same Day Dentistry Crowns

If you’ve ever had to have a dental crown, you know that it takes several weeks to get the finished crown back from the lab, not to mention a few trips back and forth to the dentist before the final visit. Step aside traditional crowns and let CEREC dentistry take the center stage. In today’s world, eliminating several office visits, and creating a superior crown seems to fit the bill all the way around!

    What is Same Day Dentistry?

CEREC same day dentistry stands for “Chair-side Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics” and is natural-looking ceramic crowns, made on site while you wait, in a single office visit. CEREC technology can repair damaged teeth with ceramic crowns in just a few hours.

What Are the Benefits of CEREC Dentistry?

How does CEREC dentistry compare to traditional methods of placing a crown on a damaged tooth?

    • Traditional Crowns require the gooey material used to make an impression that is guaranteed to trigger the gag reflex. With the CEREC method a camera captures the area to be treated and the image is then transferred to a computer. The prosthesis is then created as a 3D model on the computer.
    • With a traditional crown, you are sent home with a temporary crown where you return a few weeks later after the crown is produced in a lab. With CEREC technology, the 3-D digital impression of your tooth is milled with the aid of CAD/CAM technology. With this system, your customized crown is created from a block of ceramic material while you are in the dentist’s chair.
    • Traditional crowns require that your permanent crown be put in place 2-3 weeks later. With the CEREC technology, your newly milled permanent ceramic crown is put in place before you leave our office.
    • The CEREC method is a gentler treatment for your teeth over the traditional method of placing a crown. The decayed tooth surface is removed, but the healthy portion of the tooth is preserved. Another advantage of just one appointment means only one injection, which for the squeamish or fearful, is a bonus in the dentist’s chair.

Ceramic Material has Proven Long-Term Stability

    • With CEREC you can rely on quality materials that have been proven to be durable and aesthetically pleasing and will look good for many years to come. The CEREC tooth looks like a real tooth and is as strong as a real tooth.
    • The ceramic material has a transparent quality and looks like a real tooth. There are no dark edges on the prosthetic as is often the case in conventional crowns. Ceramic material is also very close to the hardness of the natural tooth and is very well tolerated in terms of potential allergic reactions.
    • Ceramic crowns provide a better natural color match than any other crown type and may be more suitable for people with metal allergies. All-ceramic crowns can be used for front and back teeth.

The innovation behind CEREC technology allows for easier tooth restoration, more convenient treatment, improved accuracy and a better overall experience for our patients. In one visit, Dr. Angela S. Evanson, DDS, can offer you a natural-looking ceramic crown in the comfort of her office in just one appointment!
