    What Is Tooth Restoration?

    tooth restoration

Modern Dentistry has brought tooth restoration to a whole new level in this day and age. Gone are the days when people had to live the rest of their lives with a missing tooth or hide the appearance of their teeth.

Dr. Angela S. Evanson, DDS has various methods of tooth restoration where she can replace missing teeth or repair missing parts of the tooth structure. Tooth structure can be missing due to decay, deterioration of a previously placed restoration, or fracture of a tooth. Examples of restorations include: Fillings, crowns, bridges, implants, veneers and full or partial dentures.

    Tooth Colored Fillings

If you have a tooth that requires a filling, Dr. Evanson will remove any decay, clean the affected area, and then fill the cleaned-out cavity with custom made composite resins that are the color of your natural teeth.

Traditional silver fillings contain 50 percent mercury and with time passing, the metal of a silver filling expands, contracts, and can split, leaving the tooth vulnerable to additional decay. Tooth colored composite resin fillings are superior in so many ways and they are NOT shiny silver.. Tooth colored fillings add to your confidence and give you permission to smile without reservation.

    Root Canals

Millions of teeth are treated and restored by root canal therapy every year, relieving pain and making teeth healthy again. Beneath the white enamel of your teeth, is the soft tissue called pulp and the hard layer called dentin. The pulp contains blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue, which help grow the root of your tooth during its development. A fully developed tooth can survive without the pulp because the tooth continues to be nourished by the tissues surrounding it. Saving the natural tooth through root canal therapy has many advantages:

    • A tooth with a root canal has a natural look
    • Biting and tooth sensation are present
    • A tooth that has been restored through root canal therapy provides efficient chewing
    • A root canal protects surrounding teeth from excessive wear or strain

    CEREC Same Day Crowns

After a root canal has been performed on a tooth, a crown or dental cap is used to protect the damaged tooth. A crown restores the appearance of the tooth it covers and helps regain its function.

Dr. Evanson uses the most advanced restorative dental methods available, such as CEREC same day crowns. Thanks to improvements in dental treatments, permanent dental crowns can be made in the dental office during one visit. Dr. Evanson can now create natural-looking ceramic crowns in her office vs. sending it to a lab. CEREC utilizes 3D photography and CAD/CAM technology to help her design a virtual restoration without taking impressions and, when combined with a milling unit, she is able to build an actual crown while you are still in the dentist’s chair.

    Dental Implant Restoration

If you are missing a tooth no doubt it makes you feel self-conscious. The best solution in this situation is likely a dental implant.

    • Implants effectively isolate a one tooth problem, rather than involving additional surrounding teeth
    • Implants are stronger than natural teeth
    • Implants provide outstanding benefits for restoration in that area of your mouth
    • Implants require healthy gums and adequate bone structure
    • Implants require a commitment to excellent oral hygiene and regular dental visits, both are crucial to the long-term success of dental implants.
