What Options Are Available for Tooth Restoration?

The loss of a permanent tooth can be devastating in many ways. What options are available for tooth restoration? Gone are the days when people had to live the rest of their lives with a missing tooth. Dr. Angela S. Evanson, DDS is skilled in various methods of tooth restoration where she can replace missing teeth or repair missing parts of the tooth structure.

    What is Tooth Restoration?

Restorative dentistry literally means restoring your teeth to their natural function and appearance. Restoring a tooth can save a tooth from extraction, and the complications associated when there is a tooth missing. Restorative treatment not only protects the tooth that is being restored, but the surrounding teeth also benefit.

    Tooth Colored Fillings

If you have a tooth that requires a filling, Dr. Evanson will remove any decay, clean the affected area, and then fill the cleaned-out cavity with custom made composite resins that are the color of your natural teeth.

Traditional silver fillings contain 50 percent mercury and over time, the metal of a silver filling expands, contracts, and can split, leaving the tooth susceptible to additional decay. Tooth colored composite resin fillings are superior in so many ways and natural colored fillings give you permission to smile with enthusiasm.

    CEREC Same Day Crowns

A crown, used after a root canal, restores the appearance of the tooth it covers and helps it to regain its function.

Dr. Evanson uses the most advanced restorative dental methods available, such as CEREC same day crowns. Thanks to improvements in dental treatments, permanent dental crowns can be made in the dental office during one visit. Dr. Evanson can now create natural-looking ceramic crowns in her office. CEREC utilizes 3D photography and CAD/CAM technology to help Dr. Evanson design a virtual tooth restoration, when combined with a milling unit, she is able to build an actual crown while you are in the dentist’s chair.

    Dental Implant Restoration

Missing teeth are only celebrated when you’re in First Grade. If you’re missing a tooth, no doubt it makes you feel self-conscious. The best solution to this problem is likely a dental implant. Implants effectively keep a one tooth problem isolated to that one tooth, rather than involving additional surrounding teeth.

    • To receive implants, you need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant.
    • Implants require a commitment to excellent oral hygiene and regular dental visits for the long-term success of dental implants.

    Full Mouth Restoration

If many of your teeth are decayed, missing or damaged, don’t feel discouraged. Dr. Evanson assures that there is no oral problem too severe to be addressed by modern restorative dental treatments. Full mouth restoration involves restoring or replacing many or all of the teeth in your mouth in order to return your smile to good health and functionality. Dental bridges and full or partial dentures may be needed to restore extensive tooth loss.
